IT support for manufacturing
from the front office to the plant floor

When a server, a switch or a shop floor computer goes down, the line can stop with it. Chrysalis Tech Group supports Houston-area manufacturers with 24/7 IT support, networks built for industrial buildings and practical help with the security rules that come with defense work.

  • Office and plant floor networks kept separate, documented and monitored.
  • Backups and a recovery plan for the systems that schedule and run production.
  • Readiness support for Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) if you supply the defense industry.

What IT support for manufacturing covers

IT support for manufacturing keeps the computers, networks and data behind production working, in the office and on the plant floor. Chrysalis provides 24/7 help desk support, monitoring, backups and cybersecurity for manufacturers, and keeps shop floor systems on a separate network from office computers, so a problem on one side is less likely to reach the other. For defense suppliers, we help you prepare for CMMC. We are not an assessor, and no provider can certify you on its own.

Who we support

Manufacturers and industrial businesses that run lean and cannot afford a long stop.

Small and midsize plants

Shops where the plant manager or office manager handles IT on top of a full-time job and needs someone to call who already knows the setup.

Defense suppliers and subcontractors

Companies that handle controlled unclassified information (CUI) for Department of Defense work and are seeing CMMC requirements in their contracts or passed down by their customers.

Fabricators, machine shops and distributors

Businesses with a warehouse or shop floor where Wi-Fi, scanners and shared computers have to keep working in a dusty, noisy environment.

Where manufacturing IT gets hard

Three problems show up in plants of every size.

Downtime that stops production

If the server that runs scheduling, inventory or your enterprise resource planning (ERP) system fails, orders stall and people wait. Servers and workstations that have gone years without updates make that more likely.

Plant floor and office on one network

Operational technology (OT), meaning machine controls and the computers that run them, often shares a network with office laptops and email. Ransomware that starts with one bad click in the office can then reach the equipment that runs the line.

Customer security requirements

Larger customers send security questionnaires, and defense work brings CMMC. Getting ready means written policies and technical controls that many smaller manufacturers have never needed before.

How Chrysalis supports manufacturers

Practical IT work that keeps production moving and your data protected.

24/7 support and monitoring

Help desk support around the clock for office staff and every shift, plus monitoring of servers, network equipment and key workstations so problems are caught early. Onsite work is scheduled as agreed in your plan.

Networks built for the plant

Network design, segmentation and Wi-Fi for offices, shop floors and warehouses, with structured cabling where the building needs it. Office and plant floor systems sit on separate networks, with controlled paths between them.

Backup and recovery for production systems

Backups of the servers and workstations that hold job data, machine programs and your ERP database, with a written plan for what comes back first. Client servers can be housed at Fibertown, a data center rated for up to a Category 5 hurricane.

Security that fits the shop floor

Multi-factor authentication (MFA), email filtering, endpoint protection and security awareness training for office staff, with separate protections for machine computers that cannot run modern security software.

CMMC readiness for defense suppliers

A gap review against the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 800-171 requirements that CMMC Level 2 is built on, help with your system security plan, and the technical work to close the gaps.

Start with a risk assessment

Chrysalis offers complimentary risk assessments. You get a high-level view of where your network, backups and accounts are exposed, and what to fix first.

What changes

  • Production systems that are backed up, documented and monitored.
  • A plant floor network kept apart from office email and web browsing.
  • A clear picture of where you stand on CMMC and what is left to do.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions from manufacturers about IT support.

Do you support the machines on the plant floor?

We support the IT side: the network, the Windows computers that run machine software, Wi-Fi, backups and security. Programming and repairing machine controls stays with your controls team or the equipment vendor, and we work with them on network access, updates and remote connections.

Can you make us CMMC compliant?

No provider can make you compliant or certified on its own. Assessment rules can change, so your contract, prime and counsel decide what proof is required. Chrysalis helps with readiness against NIST 800-171, prepares evidence and closes technical gaps. Chrysalis is not the assessor.

What if something fails during the night shift?

Support is 24/7, so your night shift can reach the help desk at any hour. How after-hours problems are handled, including when someone comes onsite, is written into the plan we agree with you before work starts.

Can you help with old computers that run machine software?

Yes. Plenty of plants keep machine computers on old versions of Windows because the software will not run on anything newer. We document them, separate them from the rest of the network, limit who can reach them, back them up and plan upgrades with you where the vendor offers one.

How is manufacturing IT support priced?

Managed IT is a flat monthly fee. Plans start at $125 per user per month with Chrysalis Essential, and the final figure depends on the scope we agree: users and devices, servers, sites and the security work you need. Your proposal lists what the plan covers.
